Pastures new — Otto Stockmayer sets up his company
The main field is the leather trade; the product range soon expands with the addition of lining and adhesive materials as well as special packaging for the shoe industry.
The son Hans Stockmayer takes over the management, along with Werner Feiner: The product range is updated: The arrival of synthetics spells untold new possibilities for the shoe industry.
The business expands: The company moves into new premises. The successful range now includes nylon net, synthetic knit fabric, Cambrelle lining material and Flexina. Own product developments just like “Stabilo“, STOCKMAYER attains international success.
STOCKMAYER + Sohn undertakes a change in company form, and is now a GmbH. Spraying and printing department opens for dyeing, tailoring and finishing synthetic materials. Twice yearly presentations of the latest developments and trends at international trade fairs.
Product range expands with accessories for designers and manufacturers. Changes at the top: Hans Stockmayer retires from active business. The young generation take over the firm's management: daughter Ute and son-in-law Bernd Rosenfelder together with son Hans-Jürgen Stockmayer.
Best foot into the future: Despite the recession STOCKMAYER + Sohn GmbH sets a course of site expansion, including restructuring, optimisation of operational and working processes, implementation of energy-saving measures to the building, including modernisation of technical facilities, IT and telephone systems and upgrading of office spaces, archive and presentation areas.
Following the motto “Style follows function – future in textiles“ – by pursuing its optimum combination of high-tech and design, STOCKMAYER is setting tomorrow's shoe trends today.
The anniversary year: 90 years of STOCKMAYER. Time for a festivity as a thank you for customer loyalty and supplier dedication! Two days filled with the latest talks and presentations about materials and regulations as well as corporate management – plus a common dinner.
Stockmayer has its own design and printing centre, which is housed in a new area. Both its own and customer-specific patterns are designed here and customer logos are incorporated. Application onto the various base materials then follows by means of sublimation printing. This investment resulted from the idea of being able to react to and implement fashion trends quickly. Innovative and creative design is undertaken here with great pleasure and dedication, thus expanding the range diversity of the materials.
After a long development phase, extensive tests and checks, and a further investment in the machinery, “leather in its new form” is now offered. Born from the idea of offering a new material combination with vegetable leather, to take into account sustainability and ecology. Both own print patterns and customer-specific requests and logos can be implemented. This innovation was presented for the first time at the lineapelle exhibition in Milan.
